During the week of November 12-18, we celebrate National Home Care Aide Week. It’s a time when we honor those who play an invaluable role in our healthcare community as caregivers and companions and the incredible difference they make in the lives of their patients and the families we serve.
This year we are saluting Palmeira Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Mark Dunnemann because our patients love Mark!
According to Palmeira Quality Assurance Manager Cecilia Yepremyan, Mark always goes above and beyond what is needed from him and our patients appreciate him for that. He maintains an open line of communication between himself and the supervising RN so that the patient always has consistent care.
Mark says the most meaningful aspect about his work is pleasing the patient.
When asked what he is most proud of Mark elaborates on the Palmeira version of the home health golden rule, adding “treating the patient like that’s you in their shoes.”
He says it is important to always listen to the patient and to genuinely care for people.
Whether he is transporting and transferring his patients to wheelchairs, helping patients eat and drink, bathing patients, or taking patient temperatures and blood pressure readings, the one constant for Mark is that he cares for and about his patients.
