Physical Therapy Services after Surgery, Injury or Stroke
Physical Therapy (PT) is typically ordered for patients with lower body function issues; from strokes, post-operative spine, hip, knee, foot and ankle surgeries or generalized weakness. Our Team focuses on muscle strengthening, balance, and mobility.
On the first visit, your therapist will do a functional assessment to get an idea of your strength and functional mobility. This will identify what your needs are as well as your goals and provide an honest estimation of what’s needed to achieve the best possible outcome. At that time, your therapist will make a recommendation on the frequency of visits that will be planned.
Depending on your unique circumstances, your therapist may work with you on any of the following;
- Patient Transfer Education
- Proper Use of Medical Equipment
- Pain Relief
- Lower Body Strengthening
- Habits to Avoid
- Energy Conservation
- Provide Independent exercises for you to do on your own.
One major reason doctors order physical therapy is to help patients recover from and prevent falls. Studies show that falls are the leading reason for admission to emergency rooms – especially for seniors. Studies suggest that one of three adults over the age of 65 falls each year – with more than half falling more than once. Our therapists are there to facilitate safe, independent living where we believe you want to be: at home living life to your fullest potential!
